Chet Valley Medical Practice has been a training practice for the last 35 years. The current trainers with the practice are Dr Duthie and Dr Linda Isherwood. GP Registrars spend either six or twelve months with the Practice, they are fully qualified doctors who have chosen a career in general practice and are fully qualified to treat patients. As a patient you may be offered an appointment with the registrar, however this is always the patients choice. With written consent from the patient we may ask permission to video the consultation. Our current Registrar is Dr Anika Reynolds.
On occasions we may ask for your consent to allow your consultation with the GP Registrar to be video-recorded for teaching purposes. Such a recording would normally be seen only by the Registrar and one of the GP Partners.
Video recording will only ever be done with your explicit consent. You do have the right to refuse.
We are also a designated teaching practice, which involves medical students from the University of East Anglia. Occasionally we may ask your permission for you to participate in their teaching programme. It is of great benefit for the student to learn from you in this way, but we always respect your decision if you do not feel comfortable with this. Dr Godfrey teaches second year students on a Friday, Dr Morgan year four students on a Monday and Dr Hannah Harper year one students on a Tuesday. Helen Hiseman is the coordinator for the Medical Students.
